hilarious and awesome :)

art by 3 year old

My house mates nephew stayed over the other day and the two of them had a bit of drawing time. Love when kids get their hands dirty and can be creative! By the way, how awesome are his Lederhosen!!!
Artwork is now displayed on our fridge. Makes me smile every time I see it.

it's been a year!!!

and I forgot about it haha. This blog turned one yesterday!!
I initially started this when I went to Tennessee last year and after years of sending friends and family updates I was sick of it and thought a blog might come in handy. Never in my life would I have thought that this will become a regular thing. Funny but I like it :)

card games on a Sunday night

There is nothing like playing a game of cards to round up a lovely weekend.
I never remember the rules of all these games from one time to the other but I have the best time anyway. And if I ever win, I claim beginners luck haha
Jetty's face looking disfigured but it's only a bite of apple
love the poker face haha

perfect Saturday

I was so wrong when I thought that I could sleep in this morning. There was a 70s flea market and we decided to be there first thing in the morning to find all the best things :) Off we went and I have to admit it was a room and a half full of furniture and little things, kinda disappointing. Anyway spent about an hour looking at everything before Lisa and Drew bought heaps of stuff and squeezed it into their car and we were off to breakfast/brunch.
How I miss going for breakfast in Australia, they don't do many things over there but they have an amazing breakfast culture. If I could I would open up a little cafe and introduce this over here. My besties and I are the queens of breakfast and we usually sit and eat for at least two hours... it would be a dream to have a place to go to haha.
It ended up being a really nice morning, brunched on prosciutto, figs, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, spelt and carrot bread(yay for gluten intolerant people like me), smoothies, coffee and tea.
A little stroll through the city, some shopping and another drink at the EheG later and everyone went for afternoon naps haha. Getting old my friends.
Love love love lazy Saturdays, a true day of rest before crazy Sundays start! Can't wait to be in the house of God. No better place to be, right!

farmers market

For more than 100 years the "Schranne" has been one of the local markets here in Salzburg. Every Thursday, from 5am till lunch time, farmers sell their produce around St Andra church.
I have been wanting to go since I got here and either I had to work or it was raining but today I made it there, finally. Yay!
Bought some pears and beautiful chanterelle (which my house mate Robi transformed into a delicious sauce mmmm). Wish I could go there every week and just shop for food. Where's your local market?

I heart film

Take two of screenings across the UK.
If you're anywhere around England on the 11th of October, please go and watch this documentary.
It will change the way you see this world, I promise!! For cinemas and tickets please click here.

weekends that rock

Last weekend was filled with crazy moments, lots to do, lots of music and so many lovely people that I can't even begin to describe how nice it was to catch up with them.
For the past ten years my friends have been hosting a night of rock music at the rockhouse in Salzburg. Such a unique place, it's build into the mountain and therefore has a cavelike feeling to it.
Lisl and I had the wonderful job of taking care of the closet. Fun times are always to be held in tiny spaces :)

Got to see so many friends that I haven't seen in literally years. So good to catch up with them xx

small steps

One of the many reasons to come back to Austria was to set up a studio with friends. During the first weeks another friend was added to the mix and now we've got Drew - a graphic designer, Sven - builds and designs bicycles, Lisa - works with recycled materials and transforms them into accessories and myself who will work with textiles.
It is a very random mix of people and I love it all the more for it :) Never a dull moment to be had haha
We have been on the look out for space where we can set up camp for the last two months and finally we looked at two buildings yesterday. Love that feeling you get when suddenly things get momentum and are ready to take off. Kind of a giddy feeling. It's fun to start something fresh and I can't wait for where this is going to take us.
Another meeting is scheduled in for Monday and hopefully we'll have a location by October. Stay tuned for more.

water for water

Remember when I told you about Dan & Kel's project "water for water"?
It's a very simple concept - drink water, give water. For every bottle of water sold, money goes towards providing clean drinking water in the Philippines.
So far bottles are being sold across Australia, so if you're around that part of the world you know what to do :)
They just launched their first video, have a look:

They just launched their new website yesterday and of course it is amazing. Have a look and get inspired!!!

encouragement from above

Most people I know will tell you that I love God and His house. (I say most because I don't run up to people I've just met, and scream "Jesus" in their face :) ) It is a love affair that started many years ago and I don't think it will ever end, at least I hope and pray that it never will.
For the last couple years I was so involved in church life - volunteering, serving, working for church - that I lived in this bubble like world that was unbelievable! I have never felt more encouraged, believed in and supported. I love God for putting me in such a place for a period of time, but it was time to move on and take what I learnt and impart it somewhere else.
Now, I came back to Austria to find a church that is barely hanging on and not at all the bride of Christ it is supposed to be. Let's say you're a bride and you wake up on your wedding day and are neither prepared nor do you care that your groom is waiting for you. You would be one stinking bride, right?!
My dream is for us as a church family - I'll make it general and throw all churches in this mix - to be radiant, ready, attractive, wise, at peace,... when we get to stand before God. It's a long walk but I am filled with hope. Nothing is impossible for God, He holds the freaking universe in His hands!!!!!!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Eph 3

And because God knows me and loves me beyond compare, I am still surrounded with the most amazing people that champion me and cheer me to give my best. Although they are spread around the globe, I am grateful for every one of them.
Let's make this the best season ever, build the house of God, invest in people, believe for healing and lives that will be changed. I can't wait to hear stories and see the fruit of what will happen in the years ahead of us.

The cherry on top: Hillsong Online launched last week. So spoilt, I know :)

Marc Jacobs once again

He's done it again... remember when Marc Jacobs decided to let everyone be part of the former exclusive runway show? I wrote about it back in February.
This season around he put the Marc Jacobs and his Marc by Marc Jacobs show up for viewing on his webpage.

The collection is stunning
the colours
the prints
the hats
the belts
the hot pants...

MJ never disappoints and I can't wait for the next show tonight. Watch it on marcjacobs.com

family

So my dad is majorly missing in these pics, but as he's either at work when I drop by or on holiday, I haven't taken a picture with him in months!!! This shall not happen again!
Love them although they're nuts, you can't choose your family right haha

look what my friends are up to

I am over the moon for my friend Zoe and the opportunities she's getting these days.
One of her gorgeous dresses is featured at the British Designer's Collective in Bath!! Click here for photos and info.

blueberries forever

A couple of years ago I hated them with a passion but suddenly I can't get enough of them!
Taste buds change I guess and my dream is to rummage the forrest and find all those little black/purple ones, that have the best flavour. Weird? Maybe but I don't care ha!

back on the road with the boys

After what felt like years, I headed over to a festival with My Glorious. It was so much fun to see them again after lots of emails and chats.
The gig went really well and I have to say that they get better and better every time! Unbelievable stuff!!
Anyway I tried out my new camera for the first time... let's have a look :)
I do love them... can't find better people anywhere. Fun part was that we got to hang out all night with my besties and Veronika and her brother and sister as well. Loved it!!

Paris on my mind

So I should be getting ready for a wedding, but while getting dressed and listening to Phoenix I can't stop dreaming of Paris. How beautiful would it be at this time of year.
Maybe it's got something to do with watching Marie Antoinette last week or that Lidia - housemate for life - is walking Parisienne streets right now.
Anyway should get ready haha

snow in September

"a pinch and a punch for the first of the month"
I got a massive punch today, at least it felt like it when I saw this...
Can you believe this!!!! It is flipping September. I want my summer back.

museum love

I honestly don't know why but I love galleries and museums.
Maybe it's because I like looking at pretty things - granted not everything in galleries and museums is pretty   but at least interesting :) My parents never dragged us to them, they are way more into cathedrals and stones. I've seen about every building made of stone (prehistoric up till now) in the UK!!!! I know right! Anyway while I worked in Scotland a couple years ago, it became some sort of escape for me to run into the National Gallery in Edinburgh. The beauty of art and the quietness in the building took me out of my normal world and I've never looked back.
On Monday I finally had a day off and my first stop was to go up to the museum of modern art here in Salzburg. It sits on top of a hill in the middle of the city and when you're up there you look across the whole city. Stunning.

As there is a press art collection on display at the moment, I got stuck on this piece by Alfred Jaar.
It shows you 17 covers of Newsweek while the genocide in Rwanda happened in 1994. It took that long until those 100 days of horror made the front page. My heart stopped when I saw it and I couldn't walk away from it. So many thoughts kept going through my head. How many lives could have been spared if we would have known earlier?!
Sometimes art can stop you in your tracks and I wish it would be more often!

look what my friends are up to

'Something in the water' is out now and the video up on her webpage...

I will forever treasure the times I got to hang out with Brooke and Scotty. I shared a desk with him for more than a year while working in Australia haha. Oh the fun stuff that happened, early morning wisdom from Oswald Chambers and the daily "today we're gonna kick some goals" shout :)
do dododo do do do
