new season

Yesterday I told the flat people that I would take it.
What a miracle to have been offered this whole thing but to be honest, at the same time I want to run away screaming! I'm a nomad a heart and to have something as constant as a flat in my life is a massive thing. All I wanna do is travel and keep moving. (are there others out there like me???)
One day I will work out why I am that restless but for now all I can do is cope and hope for the best :)
Still thankful for amazing landlords and such a central place.
Just need to figure out the rest and trust God. Always easier said than done...

I missed out...

Yesterday my little music heart was broken when I was too sick to go and see Arcade Fire play!
For months I'd been looking forward to this day and than a stupid cold had me in bed. aaaaahhhh why does this always have to happen to me??!!!!
Anyway I hope they rocked Munich and people got to experience a wonderful night.
Dear folks of Arcade Fire, I will catch you another time...

it was a cold cold night

A bit more than a week ago we ventured out to our first cup of punch/glogg and mulled wine. It was freezing but the drinks worked their magic. The season has just started and I'm sure we'll be back many times. Oh the joys of winter time :)

look what my friends are up to

This time I want to show you what my lovely friend Romy is creating...
She makes earrings out of nuts and seeds. Sounds so very ethical and brown but is actually very colourful :)
Aren't those colours amazing!!!! Check out her blog, become a fan on facebook and visit her shop!
With Christmas just around the corner, go on and get some presents for your friends or yourself.

silly beard things

Check this out...
My brother asked me to make him one of these a couple weeks/months ago... A beard beanie!!!!
Today my friend Simon sent me this one here
He told me that this would be my ticket to play trombone in his russian underground ska project hahaha Whereas my friend Chris assured me it would be my ticket to everything. Love my silly friends and brothers.

grace & favour

Honestly people are you ever wondering why God is so good to you?!
I mean why?? What did I ever do to deserve that?
You know it didn't stop with eternal life and forgiveness for my wrongs, no it is the abundant and above. The cherry on top of everything.
Pretty much ever since I got back to Austria I've been staying with my friends Robi and Martina. They are two of the nicest, most generous people on planet earth. So good and so much fun to be around. If I could I would make them people of the year and honour them with a special fun day :)
The flat they have is just too small for me to keep staying there so my best friend's mum told me about this lady who owns a vacant flat. Her husband is a cabinet maker (that almost sounds too simple, he repairs old carved railings, etc a true artist) and owns a massive workshop.
Originally I asked her if they have a spare bit of room so we could set up shop in his warehouse. One thing led to the other and we were talking about their flat and she was so disappointed to tell me that they had promised the flat to a young man that day. That was last Wednesday. So my mum and friends started praying for him to find something else haha. How wrong is that :)
On Sunday she told me that the guy is looking for better options and today she told me that he called to say that he wont be moving in.
And this is what God can do in a week's time ha!! Love it and am more than grateful. Will check the whole thing out on Thursday and will probably be moving in a couple days. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!
Blessed and favoured. Thank you thank you thank you x

Music Mondays over at UO

I am really liking this whole Music Mondays thing going on over at Urban Outfitters.
Every Monday they put up five songs you can download for free!! What a great idea.
Thank you very much kind people at UO and musos who let us get to know you and your music :)

late nights and early mornings

The past week has been completely packed with work.
Driving cars around for four days, just to drive over to Vienna and work at a promotion party for Spar on Friday. Don't ask me how I end up at things like that, but if you're friends with an event planner you tend to get asked for random jobs.
The great thing was that I was working with the best people - have never met nicer security guys in my life! Lisl and I manned the ticket booth. Fun times haha Can you imagine that we got tipped!!! We used our tip to pay the taxi and tipped him with the extra money - generosity spirals and I love it! Best thing about this whole S-budget party taking place in Vienna: we got to stay with Ruth.
What better way to start your Saturday than breakfast with Ruth and Ian. Their wedding plans are in full swing it seems and by the time we left it was good to know that they will come to Salzburg this weekend! Yay!!
Life is good.
On our way back it was all chats till about half an hour from the city, I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Four hours of sleep, definitely not enough but so worth for a fun night of work at the Volksgarten.

what's been on my mind lately

Do you ever read a piece of Scripture and it starts to haunt you? In a good way or course.
Hosea 6,1-3 has been on my mind for more than a week now.

"Come let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth."

Isn't that the most beautiful promise?
My dictionary tells me
acknowledge    verb
*accept or admit the existence or truth of
*recognize the authority, validity, or claims of
*recognize the fact or importance or quality of
Not quite sure what God is telling me and what I am meant to do with it. Getting prepared for the next season right.
Honestly don't know what people do without Jesus?! Love him more than life and pray that I make him smile every single day :)

zzzzzzzz

How I wish this whole sleeping thing would be easier!
I have days where no matter what time I go to sleep or how much I want to sleep... it's all a no go.
Last night was one of those and by 2am I was still wide awake and contemplating calling in sick the next day. Not that safe when you have to drive for work and feel sleepy!!
Got up at 6am anyway and cycled to work. Told them about it and they sent me home to rest halfway through the morning. Love my colleagues, they're nice!
Will turn into a pumpkin and watch some Arrested Development after baking an apple cake. Hope everyone has a relaxing evening :)

weekend roundup - better late than never right

Driving home is not always the easiest thing to do, because I know that the next couple days will be hectic! It does pay off every time though. Time spent with the right people will always build you up, inspire and strengthen you.
I finally got to meet Miss Sophie, 2 months old bundle of joy. Idiot me forgot to take pictures, but I loved the afternoon I got to spend with her and her parents. It's been ages since I saw them last and after coffee we went for a walk through the surrounding vineyards (again, what an idiot to forget my camera!!!).
Friday evening was spent between my friends house warming party, catching up with Ruth & Ian and driving my brothers around. Never fight for the car... you'll end up being the dumb driver and will have no use of car yourself!!! Lesson definitely learned!
Saturday started with a long and lovely breakfast with one of my school friends and her boyfriend. I think we might have started a new tradition hehe. There might be big things in their near future, can't wait to find out what's going to happen.
After I met up with Ruth & Ian and we drove off to check out wedding locations :) and I brought my camera... hooray!
We got completely lost on our way back. Being in the middle of nowhere is fun, but not if you drive off into the wrong direction and spend an hour getting back on the motorway.
Sunday was filled with church, lunch with the extended family, picking up a van to drive back (so stylish I know haha) and a final cup of tea with Berni & Claudia.
So much fun and no words can tell how much I love these people. I keep repeating myself but I feel honoured to have them in my world!

look what my friends are up to

Just a quick post from Vienna. Yay for home towns :)
My lovely friend and former housemate Zola, aka African princess, went to India to visit Vision Rescue and see the work they are doing. She kept a blog of her time out there and I think everyone should have a read!! It's the little things in life that can make all the difference.
Click here for more information about the amazing work Vision Rescue is doing in Mumbai.

and I'm off

I've got yummy bread in the oven and once it's done (and my stuff is packed) I will drive over to Vienna and hang out with all the lovelies over there :)
Can't wait for so many things, meeting baby Sophie, checking out Tom and Helen's new place, catching up with friends from school!!, hanging with the family and Ruth & Ian, ...
Fun times ahead and memories to be made.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Enjoy xx

ps. a year ago I was having fun with these crazy people
love them all the way across the ocean haha

at the moment...

...I'm feeling great.
Not a lie or a standard answer to get people off my back but simply the truth.
The last couple of years have been the funnest so far and I've lived and traveled around the world and had the chance to met heaps of great people. People I look up to and keep learning from. Although life was amazing, there was so much instability in it. If you would have asked me three years ago what my plan was, I would have answered "stay in Sydney and continue working for the best team in the world" :) I loved my job and the greater implications it was having. There's nothing better than to see God's kingdom come in such a tangible way that I experienced while working for United. To have been part of the whole I heart documentary and everything that went into that film, still makes me all teary and proud(in a good way haha).
A couple of years in London and a stint in Nashville later, I landed in Salzburg. It is this spot that I've known God has called me to for ages, but I never felt ready for it. (Why is that???!!! As if God wouldn't help me!!! What the heck was I thinking!)
I'm so grateful for those five years of learning and soaking up all the goodness I got to experience. (mind you although the best years, they have also been the hardest!!) It all boils down to getting equipped for the next season.
I don't think that we'll ever arrive until we meet Jesus and look into his face - be it here or in eternity. For now I'm in the wonderful city of Salzburg with some of the best friends one could have. Still using what's in my hand and being equipped for what's to come.
I'm believing for big things, that lives will be changed, doors open, that this city will experience hope and for church to blossom into the bride of Christ it is supposed to be. We can make the difference in this world. Yes, I do believe in miracles :)
There are a million things I haven't got figured out and who knows if I ever will, but the trick is to keep breathing and not give up on this adventure!

adventures in fabric dye land

Finally I'm getting closer to sewing again :) This whole thing with not getting into the warehouse we wanted and still not having enough space has knocked us down a bit.
Slowly I'm getting pumped to create stuff in small spaces and I started with dying fabric.
I've never really worked with natural dye other than colouring Easter eggs, so had a quick look around the web and set out to master this.
Cannot believe it is that easy!!!! All you need is vegetables/plants/seeds - depending what colour you would like to achieve, water, salt or vinegar to fixate the whole thing and a pot!
I decided on using turmeric, onion skins
and beets.
Decided while the beets were bubbling away that I'd throw in a little bit of red cabbage.
They turned out gorgeous... now off to see what I can make with it!
Next try will be with these berries:
