life in boxes - the usual chaos

For the last couple days, in between being at the theatre, I've been packing up boxes and getting one year in Salzburg shipped back to Vienna. It's crazy and I can't get my head around how much stuff I've actually got! Who needs all that crap? Every move I downsize and a year later when I pack it all up again it's doubled once again?! It's a mystery!
There's so much ahead, finishing off Salzburg Festival today and moving back to the capital tomorrow for the time being :) My baby brother will be married on Saturday and a month of creating and writing lies ahead. Really exciting times and I can't wait to catch up on some sleep!!!!
Massive thank you goes out to Ian for talking half my belongings to Vienna. Couldn't have done it without him, he's a legend!!
Also last night was my last EheG dinner for the next while. Love these people(broken record, I know). Special surprise guests: Thorsten & Ines, so great to see them and hear their stories.
You know what, God is so good, it is ridiculous. So thankful for the people around me and what's happening in their lives.
It all ended with Lisl and me sitting on the balcony chatting for another two hours while everyone else had gone to bed haha

tattoo inspiration

(image from tattly webpage)
I've been wanting a tattoo for years but I'm just too chicken to do it. It's terrible!
Well there are temporary tattoos nowadays that don't look too bad. Something for peeps like me haha The one shown above is my favourite out of the Tattly collection that swissmiss introduced a couple weeks ago. Such a pretty watercolour design and I'd love to get one of them. The rest are seriously fun too, you should have a look ha.
Speaking of watercolour tattoo art, has anyone seen Amanda Wachob's artwork? Blows my mind!! Please check it out, simply stunning!
Anyway maybe I'll follow Simon's example and get one for real on my 30th birthday. It's coming up after all :)

My Glorious - Inside My Head Is A Scary Place

The boys unveiled the new album cover yesterday...

Isn't it amazing?!

heat wave

Did I ever complain about having wintery temperatures during summer in this lovely city of Salzburg? I'll take it all back.
For the last 4 days it's been above 30 degrees and we're all melting away (seriously why put on make up when it runs down your face an hour later?) Wish it would stay more constant so we could get used to hot or cold. Either way haha
It gets funnier... our dressing room is on the 4th floor up, windows go into the court yard where warm air accumulates, there is no draft or anything wind related happening to cool us down. Pack in another 30 men and 4 to 5 dressers and you have a perfect sauna! Unfortunately for all actors/singers pretty much every opera playing this year has wintery costumes. A bit surprised that no-one's fainted yet.
On the plus side, Lisl & Jetty have returned from Greece and we had an impromptu dinner in front of their house in the dark. Very much like camping - chairs, candle light, etc! They brought back nice wine and olive oil oh so yummy. It was still so hot at 11pm, no jackets/cardigans required :)
Here's to staying cool! Enjoy your day x

Sunday morning thought

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the Lord;
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, "The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."
Psalm 92:12-15

Love these verses! What a promise...
Totally missing being planted in the house at the moment due to working at the festival.
Had a short window and decided to walk up the closest hill to spend some time with God this morning. So refreshing and totally needed :)
Once again grateful for an amazing God, Jesus & salvation, the global church and all the people in my world.
Life is great, hope you have a wonderful weekend everyone x

besties - the girl edition.

After the church ceremony at Ruth & Ian's wedding everyone had the opportunity to congratulate them and take pictures with them.
When all the guests were done it was the besties turn to get our photos with the bride haha
trying to wipe the lipstick off her cheek haha
Lisl pulling off the price tag on Ruth's shoe :)
So silly but so much fun. Love those girls BIG time!
See more of the wedding here, here and here :)

Happy midweek everyone x

little details

A couple more photos from Ruth & Ian's wedding, just because I loved it so much :)
After scouring wedding blogs, there was heaps of inspiration to choose from
groom and boys in the wedding party had these little pins
rosemary, lavender and something resembling broccoli haha so common yet so lovely
wild flowers, just the fact that she added daisies - swoon
table. fresh herbs in pots and lots of glasses with flowers
napkin rings are two different fabrics tied with a string. again so simple but cute :)
favours included little lip balm tubs that they made themselves and heart shaped cookies with their initials baked by her parent's neighbour. very sweet!

Sunday morning thought

"The seamless Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, has become my lifelong standard."
Just read this confession by Robert Fergusson and had to share it!
It's really short but well worth it! He and his wife, Amanda, are probably two of the people that have impacted me the most while I was at bible college in Sydney.
If you ever have the chance to hear him speak, jump at that opportunity :)

happy weekend - the Kubb edition

It's raining again here in the Alps and I'm left wondering if summer will at all turn up or if that's been it?!
This weekend consists of work, work and more work. With a good measure of packing up my belongings thrown into the mix. Yes I'm moving once again, but more on that later!

Anyway, I wanted to show you something..
Design Sponge had a DIY this week of how to make your own set of Kubb.
Kubb is a scandinavian lawn game that the gang over here loves to play on all occasions and what made me laugh was that we diyed it three years ago when Lisl, Jetty and I went up to Manchester to visit Ruth and Ian. We were well ahead of our time haha
While us girls were having breakfast one morning, the boys snuck out, went to a hardware store and came back with two broom sticks and lots of blocks of wood and a brush.
our king piece was by far not that pretty but we gave him a red head/crown!!
Ian and Jetty cutting up broomsticks into batons
sanding it down to finish it off
It wasn't the prettiest game but we played for hours in front of the house while drinking wine and enjoying the sun!
The next day we even took it to the beach.
If I remember right, this set lives with Ian's sister and her family now. Other non-diy sets have travelled camping, to the lake, to the snow and everywhere in between with us. It's such a fun game and one of the most legendary games must have been the 3am re-match at Lisa's 30th :)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, go outside and play some Kubb if you can xx

balcony gardening - fail

Remember when I planted all these tomatoes and salads. Bah!!! I've been neglecting them for weeks every time I left to go on tour and trips to random places. There were consequences haha
I harvested one serving of salad, which was delicious but everything else in the salad department was eaten by birds. Thanks a lot winged creatures!! Particularly mourning the rocket boohoo
Now the tomatoes that are usually hard to kill have grown quite tall and not even blossoms appeared and the two tiny plants I got given and told they were little cherry tomatoes have grown into tree like plants... There is one tomato growing and it looks nothing like a tiny cherry :)
The other three little flowers never yielded anything and by now I had to strap the plant to the banister as this freak of a tomato is getting too heavy!
Lessons learned: number one, I'm so not a garden goddess and number two, my life might just be to unstable and all over the place to grow vegetables for now!
Wish it was different but I guess I can live with that and as long as there's a farmer's market I'll survive :)

R&I - the wedding

While the girls had a girly morning, the boys went to a pub for breakfast haha. In Bavaria it is tradition to get the boys together and eat Weisswuerste and have Weissbier. Although no-one hails from that part of the country, Jetty brought this up and Ian's been keen to get all his friends together to start the day with him.
When we got to the church, I had to fight my way through all these boys getting changed into suits and formal wear as all the Salzburg guys turned up in Lederhosen for the breakfast heehee
An overload of pics to follow...
the church
Jetty preached with trusty sidekick Drew translating  - best moment: when Jetty took off his glasses to wipe his face and Drew said "sweat break" hahaha it was seriously hot in there!!
how beautiful do those two look, they were beaming the entire day.
yep beaming
 B. family, loved having them there
not sure what Helen told us that we're all looking like that, probably that she cried when Ruth walked in
Henning, of mustache fame, and Andi
Lisa & Drew - two of the best
 Salzburg boys
the lovely bouquet - it had everything from roses to herbs to brambles
Schniffi our old school hollywood queen - check out the lace gloves :)
Lisl set up a games corner for kids, but everyone took turns in throwing hoops while the happy couple was off getting their photos taken
Kat & Steff - really glad to have seen them so much over the last couple weeks!
 best men, Alex & Leigh
Salzburg gang bringing a bit of traditional Austrian dancing in their Lederhosen and Dirndl :)
Ian's family during a game of family fortunes
 cake
flat 1 guys & Alex (after giving the most hilarious best man speech, favourite part was when he told all the English to ponder what's really going on in the restaurants cellar before he read out a part in German ahahahaha)
and than we danced the night away till the sun came up again

JJ Konvoi Tour

(image a screenshot of their webpage)
Soon and very soon...
In a bit more than two months the next tour adventure will kick off for Jupiter Jones and My Glorious. I'm pumped and can't wait to pack my bags and head out on the road. yay
Why do I write this you ask?  Tickets are being sold like there's no tomorrow and Hamburg is already sold out. So don't miss your chance to see JJ and MG somewhere near you in Germany and Vienna - it'll be incredibly loud and so much fun :)

selah day

Cannot put this book down!
I read the first one, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, last year while I still lived in London but never got round to getting books number two and three until my parents went on a book shopping spree while over in England :) This book is so captivating, it kills me when I have to put it down!
Love selah (pause & think) days. First day off with no agenda, appointment, duties, trips to Vienna, weddings or other fun stuff. Today is all about reading and baking bread and a plum cake.

R&I - pre wedding

There are not many girls who would turn down the offer of getting all dolled up :)
Saturday morning I went to the florist to pick up the bridal bouquet, decorations and accessorise. (Got yelled at by an old lady accusing me of being completely inconsiderate??!! speak for yourself lady for yelling through empty streets before 8am on a Saturday haha)
Made my way to Ruth's flat to drop of all the flowers and get her and Kat in the car to go and get our hair done. Next stop was MAC store. Don't know how we did it but after make up fun we had lunch at the apartment ... didn't really think that one through. There went our lipstick haha
so in love with this bouquet...
hair stylist doing a fantastic job!!
mini beehive - loved it, took me 2 days to get it all out haha
love how Kat is clutching her bump, so sweet :)
make up guy working his magic, really nice guy as well!
girl heaven @ MAC
FYI the wedding dress is an original 50s dress, Ruth and Nicola found while shopping for dresses in London, so we decided that we wanted to do a bit of a 50s dress up. (think Stepford Wives or Mad Men - click here for a beautiful summary by Elsie). Yup that was our inspiration and I think the lovely bride looked stunning beyond words!
So good to have a girly morning before a day of celebrations. I'll forever treasure this!
