revisiting Estelle's American Boy

I've been listening to this song quite a lot while driving lately. Love the b&w video - mostly because John Legend appears haha It will forever remind me of my first week in England.
Fun memories of Hannah and Sky up in Thrapston :) Lots of pub time and walking around gorgeous Northamptonshire.
Random side note: in my first week I went to a 25th wedding anniversary that included a full blown blues brothers tribute band, attended a random funeral and learned how to play cricket - the things I get myself into and will never be able to explain haha love my life!

planting things

Just like last year, I've decided to grow my own lettuce, tomatoes and herbs this year.
I got given two little tomato seedlings and my mint plant is flourishing after cutting it down to dry the first batch of leaves for tea - so good!!
The rest will be planted tonight. Can't wait to get my hands dirty :)
Wish I could have stolen some of those strawberry plants(pictures) from my parents balcony... believe it or not but they never planted them, they survived all those months of winter. Quite impressive for such a little plant, don't you think

Luxury is...
to have a completely mental, loud, fun family

making new friends
standing in awe of newborns
sitting in lush green grass
This weekend was filled with all of it

Easter weekend could not have been any better.

thoughts on Easter

The other day I was listening to a lady talking on the radio. A theologian, who was talking about Easter and what it represents in the traditional sense. It left me feeling really sad mixed with astonishment. There is someone who has studied to great lengths what this God thing is all about and I don't think that she's ever encountered Jesus?! I'm not sure how that happened.
The Jesus I celebrate is Almighty God, the One who conquered death and left an empty grave. He is first in line of humanity restored, hence we live with free access to our Creator. No rituals, no sacrifices, no mediators, etc needed. Jesus did it all and made a way!
I am forever grateful and that is why I celebrate Easter, to worship the One who saved me! In Him is life, forgiveness, hope, freedom, power, healing, restoration, fullness of joy and I do hope you know Him.
Happy Easter and have a great start into the next week xx

girls night at the flower shop

Life has been a bit mental over the last couple weeks. Too much going on in everyone's life. The last weekend I've spent in Salzburg, apart from our running adventures last week, was mid February!!
To establish that we still get to hang out and catch up we decided to turn Tuesday nights into girls night at my house. Everyone comes round for dinner and we chat, chat, chat and chat some more :)
This week, we decided to help out Lisa's mum who runs a flower shop, Artifex. With Easter just around the corner she needed some help finishing off some things.
I was wondering what on earth I could help, since I've never worked with flowers before. On the other hand even my mum has helped out before Christmas and she is the most non-crafty person this world has ever seen. Sometimes I wonder if she has super powers, she just looks at things and they fall apart :)
Anyway, we had fun at Artifex, it's like a little shop filled with treasures, you could spend hours in there and not see everything.
Decided to do this again soon, if they let us haha. If you're ever in the area of Salzburg, you should definitely pop in!

round the Fuschlsee

On Saturday we did the seemingly impossible and went for a run round Fuschlsee. It's a lake quite close to Salzburg and the path around it is 11.3km long! I know!!! Why would you ever do this in your right mind! You do it to train for an even longer run! Silly us, really :)
Surprisingly it went really well and if it wasn't for all the steep uphill bits it would have been a really nice run. It was a nice run anyway because the scenery is breathtaking (google it and see for yourself).
I left my camera with Lisl at the cafe so there are only before pictures haha
we're such pros - NOT :)
Special shout out goes to Lisa. She wanted to come and run with us for a couple km but ended up doing the entire loop! She is a hard core mountain biker and is stronger than all of us together but hasn't run in more than a decade!! Well done friend, I'm proud of you x

room with a view

When I look out of my kitchen door/balcony, this is what I see. I love how my neighbours let their garden just grow and how it's not immaculate. Those tulips have opened up now and the colours are just gorgeous and intense.
Have I told you how much I love spring lately?  This is why I like celebrating Easter in the northern hemisphere so much more than down south. Everything comes alive at this time of year, just like we can through everything we remember and celebrate at Easter.
One life poured out to give life in abundance and everyone's in on it! So thankful for my Saviour King.

slightly obsessed

Don't know how many times I've listened, danced and jumped around to this in the last couple of weeks!!
I'll be running a 11km run around a lake this afternoon to prepare for the dreaded 14km run on May 1st. If I never appear again, you all know what happened :)
Have a great weekend everyone, go and enjoy the sunshine x

Jupiter Jones

Four weeks on and I'm in love with the entire bunch haha.
Jupiter Jones & crew were the best people to do tour with. I'm gonna ruin your rock credibility now, but you guys were lovely, relaxed, always funny and so nice (except RK who should really have been born in Vienna according to his grumpiness haha)!
Having been the only girl on the band wagon, as Steffi had to go back to work after weekend number 2, they were never annoyed when I had no clue about their football antics, did my nails or asked for band aids when my ballerinas ripped my feet open, so they score extra brownie points.
Yup they're great!!
Follow them on here, become a fan here, like their crew here and buy their cds here! They'll be touring throughout Germany again in the fall and will even stop in Vienna(not in Germany!). Tickets on their webpage.
It was a pleasure hearing them play over the last month and can't wait to meet again one day xx
the finnish line tour
(not a spelling mistake, their tour poster showed them in front of a sauna!)
Sascha, Dennis, Tom, Gregor, Nicolas, Sami, Carsten, Becks, Tobi, Kevin, Paul, Hont
*missing Kasel, Chris, Raffi and Steffi*
I'll leave you with their current single Still and will shut up about touring for a bit :)

Jupiter Jones & My Glorious - tour finale in Stuttgart

On Saturday, I woke up having had the weirdest dream ever and got to spend some time with Doris (our beautiful host) while the boys were still sleeping. As you may know by now, I love meeting people and listening to their stories :) Doris is a super star who teaches refugees in a secondary school. She gets everyone from 15 to 50 years old who hasn't had an education. Not an easy job at all but she's a legend to say the least.
It was an early start as there was another coffee to help brunch in Stuttgart to get to. So we bid Munich and Raffi, who had to get back to Austria (boohoo), farewell and headed west.
Katja did a great job hosting a killer brunch. So much yummy food and lots of friendly faces. It was a perfect day!
At this point, can I just say a huge thank you to everyone who came to those three C2Hs and contributed money towards Japan. We might not be able to do much ourselves but if we combine our efforts we can make a difference and these coffee to help mornings we've had, showed me once again how generous people are! THANK YOU!!
The venue that night was in the heart of the city, opposite the palace with its parklands around it. The sun was beating down and I've never seen that many people lounging in the grass. It felt like summer and almost all of us got sunburnt getting some sun before sound check :)
The night itself was nothing short of spectacular. Nicolas, Jupiter Jones singer, came on stage and sang Sunday Bloody Sunday with My Glorious, before the entire JJ crew got up and covered the boys with silly string and took Paul's drum set apart. Oh the shenanigans haha.
So when it was time for JJ to get on stage Sami decided to put their acoustic guitars out of tune before entering the stage in undies!
Personal highlight of the night: my friend Sarah and her boyfriend Kaleb rocked up! Sarah and I were housemates in Sydney and she is one of the funnest people to be around. So good to catch up with her and meet Kaleb.
Stuttgart it was unbelievable!!! Thanks for being beautiful and sending us home on such a high! Can't wait to be back xx

JJ/MG tour round 4 Munich

There was one thing that excited me more than anything about driving into Munich. To see my good friend Sophie! It's been way to long since we last got to spend some time together. June to be precise.
Catching up over coffee is a million times better than talking on the phone or skype!
Strolling through town chatting was the best afternoon ever and way too short - time flies when you're having fun.
Nice to see some Vienna friends that night, they drove for hours just to see the boys play and hang out. Lovely seeing you people :)

Now, two strange things about Munich... the crowd was a bit unreceptive that night, people were not in a buying mood and left straight after JJ did a great set! What's that all about?!
The other thing I discovered, you have to pay to use the bathroom at a cafe!!! I was a customer for goodness sake?! Any ideas what happened there people?

JJ/MG tour round 4 Frankfurt

Two words - freakin awesome haha
Frankfurt was a blast, honestly!!
We got there after another long car ride, which didn't seem long after all these monster treks up to the north of Germany! What's 7 hours in a car, right.
It was a gorgeous day, very sunny and actually too warm for early April. Turns out it was good though as merch stands were outside that night, until the wind started blowing and I got cold feet that is.
Went for another run in the afternoon - can't believe I'll be running a 14km run in 3 weeks!!! What the hell was I seriously thinking????!!!! I asked the lady at the bar where I could go running and she sent me into the loveliest fields, flowers galore and heaps of allotments everywhere. Who knew that Frankfurt was that green.
It was nice to see familiar faces and make new friends that night. Massive THANK YOU to Bine for letting us crash at her place. She lives in the heart of the city and when I looked up through the rooflight above the bed I could see one of the sky scrapers. Random!!
interpretive dance to Man In the Mirror
yoga on the roof
