a couple days off

It wouldn't be a nomadic life if I'd just stay home the first weekend I've got off during our Minefield tour :)
Plus my little carry on would feel neglected if he wouldn't get packed up once again. I'm heading west to see my favourites and there will be lots of hang outs, possibly a few morning runs, balcony sessions and countless chats over tea/coffee/beer/wine - take your pick!
It's been almost six months since I moved, and even though they all came out when I celebrated my three decades, it's been way too long. It shall be a proper time of catching up, hooray.
Lots of stories and photos when I return. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend x

current obsession

(image via
Downton Abbey
I hopped on that bandwagon at Christmas time, watching the Christmas special with the entire family haha I brought back the DVDs for my parents and now I can't get enough of it!
Maggie Smith will have you in stitches! She said one of my favourite lines in Gosford Park:
"Difficult colour, green."
and there is plenty of that in Downton :)
Also obsessed with the costumes and set design, breathtaking!

I'm still at it. This time I've decided to make letter stamps and if I would have known how much work it is to saw those silly pieces of wood, I'd probably bought a set, but this way I have a set no-one else has. In your face consumer world!
Another piece of fabric is wrapped tightly in a ziplock bag to soak up all the colours from different pieces of wood and onion skins. Can't wait to see the pattern but it needs to sit there for another week at least. Oh patience...

dear sugar

I've decided to fast from you for the next 40 days also known as lent. Nothing major but with my baking habit not the easiest of things. I will focus my mind on other things, put others before myself on a day to day basis and my poor body will get a bit of a detox as a bonus :)
See you on Easter Sunday when we celebrate the risen King.
Yours truly x

Burberry F/W 2012

Do yourself a favour and watch the highlights from the Burberry Prorsum show.

How sweet are the owl t-shirts? I've already got two at home... not Burberry ones, but still cute ones :)

Minefield Tour day 10

It was a return to one of the Konvoi locations from last fall, evidence here. We do like the Franz K and were happy to be back there.
For the first time ever, it seems haha, we didn't drive through the night to get home asap but stayed! Driving back the next morning after enough sleep was a way different experience and we got to stop at my favourite German coffee place - Dinzler very much my style and for someone who barely drinks coffee, I can't get enough of it. Delicious and the smell is to die for :)
So if you ever find yourself between Munich and Salzburg, go and treat yourself, you won't regret it!

Minefield Tour day 9

My knowledge of this city extended as far as knowing that it holds an annual opera festival. Wagner operas to be specific - very long kind of operas (remember I'm the one who told an opera singer that I don't really like opera haha)
Seeing that My Glorious make music that is not operatic in any sense, I had visions of opera fans chasing us out of the city. Torches, shrieking and lots of drama involved haha That's what you get from having an overactive imagination!
You can imagine my surprise when we got there and had one of the best nights so far. All you need is an independently run student club on campus wedged in between all the dorms, where people rarely go home before early morning :)
Thanks to Franz and the Galshaus gang and El Ranchos, who shared the bill with us and Monique for coming all the way from Frankfurt :)

Minefield Tour day 7

HAMBURG - city that reminds me so much of London - you were amazing.
Number one, a massive thank you to Peter and Fabs for supporting us over the last two weeks! So much fun with these two crazy guys from Regensburg.
Number two, the crew for the rest of our wonderful Minefield tour finally got together. Hooray!!!
Number three, we were reunited with the lovely trio Still in Search. We met them last year when we played in Osnabrueck, read about it here, were very impressed and asked them to support us in their hometown. Yay for friends.
we have awkward family photos down haha
the usual suspects welcome Bianca
new guitar arrived just in time
the wonderful and talented Still in Search
the world is funner with star mixer Raffi in the house :)
battle of the bands at breakfast
Once again we were spoiled with seeing friends and spending time with them!
Honorary mention... we stayed at Superbude, great hostel and funky design. Check it out if you need accommodation in Hamburg. Fun times x

Minefield Tour day 6

Fabs and Peter treating us to some tunes :)
what would this world be without duck tape?
It was a long day and an even longer drive back, but we had a good time in Giessen. Favourite part was to see Katrin who hosted a coffee to help last year in Koblenz. Nothing like seeing familiar faces and to be honest we've been spoilt this week!

Marc by Marc Jacobs F2012

maybe my favourite jumper in a while :)
hips are definitely back and I like the longer hem in the back!
love how two seconds after the show the place turns into an ant colony :)

Marc Jacobs Fall 2012

Here I am at 2.15 in the morning, happy that MJ does a live stream from New York Fashion Week :)
The stage looked like a paper cut out - cute -  and to sum it up
  • oversized hats
  • large paisley prints
  • huge buckles on shoes
  • chunky knits
  • beautiful tailoring - hips are back baby!!

current obsession

Revisiting a little treasure from Arcade Fire's last album. How beautiful is this little video...

Apple Sharlotka
Do you like apples? This is the worlds most simple apple bake thing I have ever made. It is delicious and I couldn't stop eating it. Find the recipe over at SmittenKitchen

Minefield Tour day 5

Dresden you beauty!!!
Katy's Garage, tiny and cozy and packed with people :)
As you can see in the photos, we had the best time in this beautiful city.
My favourite thing about the city might just be that they don't clear the sidewalks :) There were mums and dads pulling their kids on sleds everywhere. One of the cutest things I have ever seen!
Thanks so much everyone for coming out, you made it a great night.
By the way, we highly recommend Mondpalast as a place to stay if you ever want to go there for a weekend. Super friendly and the bar was packed when we got in around 1am haha
This was certainly not the last time we all went to Dresden, there is heaps more to explore! Wish we had more time everywhere :)
